Taiwan has a very special bell fruit called “Black Pearl”. It is smaller than regular bell fruits, but it tastes so much sweeter! Black Pearl even export to Japan and other countries.
Mango and budda head are also world famous, due to the climate in Taiwan, our fruits grows sweeter than many places.
Taiwan’s pastry is very delicious, pineapple Cake is a must buy item for every visitor!
All most everyone will buy a bag of pineapple cakes.
Tea and tea pot are another popular items on the list, especially oolong tea from the mountains.
Lastly, one of Taiwan’s off island “Kimen” has produced a special liquor call “Sorghum Wine”. The alcohol percentage is higher than whisky, it taste strong and it has a special flavor in it.
Taiwan has many tasty local foods. You can eat them everywhere and anywhere! There are many night markets in Taiwan, the common foods are: Oyster pancakes, BBQ sausage covered with sticky rice, stinky tofu and etc.
Although many foreigners can not accept the smell of stinky tofu, Taiwanese love it so much!
Taiwan’s beef noodle is world famous. Taiwan even holds a beef contest every year, let people vote for the top 10 beef noodle restaurants in Taiwan.
“小籠包” is also a must try food in Taiwan.Most famous restaurant is “Din Tai Fun”,which is all over the world now.
After eating salty foods, you may want to have a dessert.
Since Taiwan is a fruit kingdom, a fresh watermelon juice can be found easily.
And a plate of shave ice is a wonderful ending in a hot day! You can choose 3-4 toppings to add on your ice, I personally prefer grass jelly, lemon jelly, taro balls and pearls.
